We're Online!

We now have our blog up and running so we can let people in on who we are and what we're up to.

Who We Are.
We are a family of five living on a park-like piece of land in the heart of the applegate wine country. Three of us run Caris Creek: Boise Pont (husband & father), a highly skilled jack of all trades is our engineering and manufacturing specialist; Terry Pont (wife & mother), a veteran of the sales industry, heads our personal relations and quality control; & Malin Pont (son), a skilled graphic designer is our lead designer and fine artist.

We live in a large, handmade log home (built on weekends by Boise) on a small rise overlooking our yard and creek below. Out in back, we have our shop, where we build all our creations and spend a lot of our time. Living off the land has always been a big part of our lives. Heck, we didn't even get power until '89. We grow most of our own food in our garden across the creek And build all our products from local and renewable resources. We are a green company living as close to an organic lifestyle as possible, while still contributing our talents to society.

As to what talents we possess, we would like our work to speak for us. But, we do have years and years of experience in the fine arts, woodworking, metalsmithing and the engineering of heritage quality goods. We invent and create new works of art that we would like to see in our own log home. We value working from home and want to practice this form of art for the rest of our lives.

What We're Up to.
We have been building our furnishings for the launch of Caris Creek for a little under a year now. squeezing in time between our other jobs and tight schedules. We have developed some unique offerings and are ready to put them online and start releasing them to the public. We're interested in creating one of a kind pieces of art, not the mass produced furnishings available at any nationwide retail outlet. We do sell more than one of the same kind of product but each has its own character and can be customized for our customer. So when you buy a piece from us, it might have a cousin, but it's not a clone.

We have applied to the Growers Market that will be starting in the spring. Hopefully we get in and make a big splash there. Should be a good chance to get a little exposure and a feel for how people are appreciating our work.

We will be changing and updating our web page CarisCreek.com continually over the coming months and most likely years. Check in regularly to see what new features and goods we're offering. We will also be starting to sell online in the summer months, first on eBay, then on our own online store.

This is all new to us, but we're up to the challenge and are looking forward to it.

Tomorrow's post will highlight a creation we're particularly proud of...
